(update: the original title wasn’t a good idea, google-wise. I changed it).

Larry Craig, Republican Senator from Idaho, one of a 100 distinguished persons chosen by the American people to represent them in the noble Democratic procedure, is apparently a big big Sodomizer. Yes, indeed. A Fudgepacker. A Fag. A gentleman of the back door. Whatever you want to call it, he is in the habit of having sex with men*.

Not that I care, of course, about what senator Craig does on his private time with any of his orifices. But the American people care. Oh, do they care. They care so much that they have sent senator Larry Craig all the way from lil’ Idaho to the senate especially to protect them from those lewd pillow-biters. Oh, the bitter irony.

Did I say bitter irony? I meant sweet, of course. Sweet irony.

And it gets better: this ghey toilet-dweller* has also been (until yesterday) a co-chairman of presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s Idaho Leadership Team. Mitt Romney is the most conservative and family-value-oriented among the realistic republican presidency candidates. And now, according to the “On the Politics” blog, his details and record of involvement are being removed from Romney’s web page.

The morals of the story?

1. God doesn’t hate fags, but the republican party sure does.
2. It was always embarrassing and quite risky to be a hypocrite. But in this day and age, it’s much more dangerous. When you’re exposed, everybody gets to laugh at you, and Teh internets never forget.
3. The US is not a very good place to live if you care about minority rights. But then, what country is?

And just to dance some more on the ashes of this man’s career, here is an excrept from the report of the officer who arrested him: (taken from Wikipedia)

“At 1216 hours, Craig tapped his right foot. I recognized this as a signal used by persons wishing to engage in lewd conduct. Craig tapped his toes several times and moves his foot closer to my foot…. The presence of others did not seem to deter Craig as he moved his right foot so that it touched the side of my left foot which was within my stall area. Craig then proceeded to swipe his hand under the stall divider several times.”

According to Wikipedia, he is also on the Board of Directors of the National Rifle Association since 1983.

Finally, let me say that this kind of people disgust me, and that I’m at least happy that Israel is a country where the gay rights situation is relatively tolerable (although we have a long way to go).

So, I guess the only question remaining is: will Tom Cruise play Larry Craig in the movie adaptation (“based on a true story! Politics, Crime, Deception, Semen!”)? and what, exactly, will soon-to-be-Ex Senator Craig do with the money he gets from the movie rights.

By the way, as noted on some blogs, it’s not clear if or why what Craig did is even illegal. This man was prosecuted and fined for soliciting sex in a public restroom (or as the American justice system calls it, “lewd conduct”). Him and his country deserve each other. (Disclaimer: there are many wonderful Americans whom I admire).
